The key to a great personal statement lies with the term itself:
Make your writing fundamentally personal to your voice. What sets your words apart from someone else’s? Express yourself.

Try your hand at free writing:
Set a timer for 15 minutes, write anything that comes to mind. Gradually, you will have enough to work with.

Write over the word limit.
Every piece of writing requires a certain amount of editing. Write everything out, go over the word limit and leave the editing to the end.

Show your writing to at least two people you trust.
Ask them specific questions about your work, which will lead to more precise feedback.

Experiment with different forms of writing.
There is no set way to write a personal statement.
